A woman’s body was found in the burned remains of a Lake Forest home, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday, Oct. 2.

The blaze broke out Saturday evening just before 10 p.m. in the 21000 block of Midcrest Drive, said the Sheriff’s Department. Crews found a two-story home involved in heavy smoke and flames and it took firefighters just over an hour-and-a-half to extinguish the fire,  the Orange County Fire Authority said.

While there were initially believed to be no injuries in the home, a woman’s body was later found, the Sheriff’s Department said. It wasn’t immediately clear when or how the woman was found or how she died.

No identifying information was immediately available for the victim.

The fire’s cause was under investigation, OCFA said. Both OCFA and the Sheriff’s Department were investigating the death.
