It’s springtime in the Palm Beaches, and there are always arts and cultural events for you to enjoy! Here to help you with three ideas for the coming week is the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, the official support agency for arts and culture here in Florida’s Cultural Capital.

For more to enjoy and experience, explore the Council’s online events calendar at palmbeachculture.com/events. Visit each organization’s website for COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines.

If you’re thinking of adding work by local artists to your collection, then head to the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County this weekend! The organization premieres its newest exhibition, titled “Art Acquisitions: Large and Small,” intended for budding art collectors at many different price points. Even if you’re not planning on collecting/purchasing art, this is a great show to see!

“Art Acquisitions: Large and Small”: On display Friday through June 25. Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, 601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach. Info: 561-471-2901 or www.palmbeachculture.com.

Two of the most important ingredients of the “epic” films of Hollywood’s Golden Age were an almost-obsessive attention to fine detail, as well as simulating a staggering sense of scale for audiences. Both of these techniques are explored in-depth at the Boca Raton Museum of Art’s newest exhibition, “Art of the Hollywood Backdrop,” which features over 20 incredibly well-preserved backdrops from some of Tinseltown’s greatest films. From the giant Mount Rushmore of Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” to the grand Austrian Alps of “The Sound of Music,” this exhibition is a delightful way to spend the day.

“Art of the Hollywood Backdrop”: Runs through Jan. 22. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, free for children, members and students with ID. Boca Raton Museum of Art, 501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. Info: 561-392-2500 or www.bocamuseum.org.

Who could say no to a night of classic American musical theatre? This weekend, the Kravis Center is hosting performances of Lerner & Loewe’s “My Fair Lady,” the all-time classic tale of Eliza Doolittle’s journey to becoming a “proper lady” with the help of linguistics professor Henry Higgins. With songs like “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “The Rain in Spain,” and “On The Street Where You Live,” this performance will have you humming showtunes for weeks after the curtains fall. Get your tickets now!

“My Fair Lady”: Performances run tonight through Sunday afternoon. Tickets start at $33. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. Info: 561-832-7469 or www.kravis.org.
