Escambia County fire truck crash leaves Alabama man seriously injured

An Alabama man was left with serious injuries following a crash with an Escambia County fire truck Tuesday night at North W Street and Mobile Highway.

The fire truck, driven by a 29-year-old Crestview man, was traveling south on North W Street, approaching Mobile Highway at approximately 9 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. At the same time, a sedan driven by a 42-year-old Mobile, Alabama, man was traveling west on Mobile Highway approaching North W Street.

The fire truck failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic after attempting to clear the intersection while running lights and sirens. Subsequently, the front of the fire truck collided with the right side of the sedan.

The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening serious injuries. No injuries were reported from the firefighter on the fire truck.
