After two years away due to the COIVD-19 pandemic, the Cruisin’ into the Next Chapter Classic Car and Truck Show is set for a spectacular return next Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Everyone in the community is welcome to join the Yolo County Library and the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library in attending this free, family-friendly event, which will feature a wide array of classic cars and trucks and antique fire trucks, tractors, and gas engines.

According to a press release, the show will be held near the Yolo Branch Library, located at 37750 Sacramento Street in Yolo, a five-minute drive north of Woodland.

“We are all so thrilled,” said car show coordinator Meg Sheldon. “We hated taking two years off but felt it was the right thing to do. There was this wonderful thing that bought people together, and we weren’t able to do it. People really looked forward to it, but we now have a lot of excitement from car owners and community members going.”

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library and the Yolo County Library. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Yolo Branch Library, which serves the communities of Yolo, Zamora, Dunnigan, and the surrounding areas. Proceeds will also go towards the building of a new library right where the previous one was located, on the corner of Sacramento and Second streets.

“It’s been a lot of fun planning, and we have gotten some really positive feedback and responses from the community about being able to get together again,” Sheldon explained.

Support for this event is generously provided by the Yolo Fire Protection District, Yolo Enterprises LLC, Yolo Market, Cache Creek High School, and dozens of other local businesses and residents.

A variety of delicious food will be on hand, while live DJ sets provided by Rockwell Sound and Lighting will provide a soundtrack for the day.

There will also be free books, balloon twisting, and activities for children. Participants will also be able to enter a donation drawing to win a variety of prizes, browse vendors, or purchase souvenir T-shirts, YOLO key chains, magnets, and hats, in addition to memorabilia from the historic Yolo Branch Library.

“Come on down,” Sheldon said. “We just loved to share our community and classic cars, antique fire trucks, engines, and tractors with the broader community.”
