The A120 bypass in Bishop’s Stortford was shut for four hours in the night as a result of a smash which resulted in two people being taken to hospital.

Police were called at around 1.40am on Thursday (Sept 29) and officers attended to find a white Iveco flatbed truck and a grey Jeep involved.

The road was closed to enable Herts Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service to attend the scene.

Both Stortford fire crews and their Sawbridgeworth station colleagues attended. Cutting equipment was used and trauma care was given to occupants of the vehicles.

Both vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared by 5.35am.

Two ambulances, a senior paramedic and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Two patients were taken to hospital by road for further assessment and treatment.
