Most anime characters aren't invincible. Thankfully, most have access to strong suits of armor that help protect them.

In anime, characters are forced to endure brutal attacks, oftentimes from supernatural opponents. Unless they rely on plot convenience in order to survive, they will usually require a significant amount of armor just so that they are not wiped out instantly. Luckily, there are dozens of ways for the characters to protect themselves through various defensive countermeasures

Suits of armor are the best way for direct mitigation, as they can lessen or in some cases even completely negate enemy strikes. Some have miscellaneous benefits that even increase the user's potential to retaliate and their overall attributes. By ranking armor, it becomes easier to gauge which is the best.

Fire Force's Obi can be defined precisely through his simplicity. The "Special Shield" outfit may not provide unique advantages, though it fulfills its intended purpose as a typical set of armor magnificently.

Framed in steel and cloaked in the finest flame resistant fabrics, Captain Obi used this gear to face off against the legendary Benimaru. Despite having no ignition abilities of his own, he convinced the antihero of their loyalty to Tokyo and helped to mend the misunderstanding between both companies.

In addition to its baseline durability, Don Krieg's versatile armor makes him among One Piece's craftiest villains. He comes equipped with a steel net, exploding spear, gatling guns, and even poison bombs capable of taking down entire swathes of enemies.

Krieg's vast number of options means that he can repeatedly catch enemies off guard when defeating them. Should Gin not have betrayed him at the Baratie, the only person capable of stopping him would have been Mihawk. At the time, neither Luffy or Zoro stood a chance of surviving his gas.

Oasis was Secco's Stand in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It covered him in a suit of armor that allowed him to traverse solid materials as if they were water. This granted him incredible mobility, which helped him survive against Team Bucciarati's strongest fighters.

Additionally, Oasis enhanced Secco's strength so significantly that he could shatter concrete and overpower Zipper Man. Although it doesn't considerably increase his defenses, Oasis' multifaceted advantages ensure that Secco always has momentum in a fight and can choose when to escape.

Reiner was one of the most well defended characters in Attack On Titan. When transformed, his titan was 15 meters tall and could shrug off any blade or bullet. Even heavy artillery could not take down Reiner immediately, requiring sustained or targeted fire in order to be effective.

In addition to a tremendous increase in strength, Reiner's shifting form had a second underappreciated advantage. It allowed him to shift his consciousness to any part of his body, meaning that he could survive fatal attacks while his compromised organs healed.

Ghiaccio's White Album was also a Stand that manifested as a suit of armor. Unlike Secco, he was nearly invincible due to his impregnable defense and fearsome offense. Album could secrete ice at staggering quantities capable of peeling back flesh and muscle under slight exposure.

It was also magnificently durable, could reflect projectiles using ice crystals, and only had a single weak spot on the back of the wearer's head. Were it not for Mista's aim and Giorno's healing, no one could have defeated Ghiaccio.

Sasuke's Susanoo was arguably the strongest defensive technique in Naruto. In addition to defending against physical attacks, it could also counter genjutsu as powerful as the infinite tsukuyomi itself. Further, Sasuke could partially manifest his armor for surprise attacks.

When catching an opponent, he could crush them to death with a single flick of his wrist. Considering that the Susanoo is only used by highly competent and well-trained sharingan users, it's also an exclusive ability that most shinobi aren't prepared to counter.

The Incursio armor was an Imperial Arms passed down from Bulat to Tatsumi in Akame Ga Kill! It was durable enough to survive a nuclear level explosion, as well as sustained direct attacks from the Emperor himself.

Not only did the armor increase its user's strength, it also allowed them to turn completely invisible. When combined with its already formidable defenses, those wearing the armor will almost be guaranteed to survive on the battlefield due to their capacity for resistance and mitigation.

When inside the Lancelot, Suzaku became arguably the most formidable pilot in Code Geass. He proved more than capable of surviving being outnumbered and even held his own against Kallen despite her superior offensive weaponry.

In addition to towering well over most opponents, the Lancelot is nimble and capable of devastating enemies with its attached sword or a variety of energy-based attacks. Although Suzaku was the best pilot to use the Lancelot, it could still be formidable if given to another owner.

Ryuko's Senketsu might not have started out as the strongest in Kill La Kill, but it became formidable quickly. Granted, it increased her strength and resistance by drawing blood, but she had to work around special abilities like Gamagori's imperviousness and Uzu's enhanced perception.

Where Senketsu shines is its ability to take life fibers from other uniforms. This means that Ryuko can stockpile powers over time until she eventually becomes unbeatable. Given that Ryuko used all the life fibers in Honnoji Academy to defeat Ragyo, there's allegedly no limit behind how much her costume can absorb.

The Evangelion Unit 01 was an unspeakably potent battle suit in Neon Genesis Evangelion. It allowed Shinji to clash with monsters determined to destroy the rest of the world, making his young age an asset instead of a liability. In addition to its incredible size and strength, the Evangelion 01 unit is profoundly durable.

It could endure being bathed in lava for several minutes, emerging from deep within the earth without any noticeable injury to its pilot. As a result, there's little surprise that it is so capable of defeating angels and buying the human race more time.
