NEW COMBINATION CHEMICAL HOSE WAGON.

That enterprising firm, the P. J. Cooney Manufacturing Company, of St. Louis Mo., has just had tested by the fire department of that city a new combination chemical hose wagon, with water tower attachment, of which Chief Swingley, his officers and men, unanimously speak in the highest terms. This two-herse chemical hose wagon, with three-way monitor, nozzle (size tips for nozzle one and one-half inch, one and threequarter inch, and two inches) is fully equipped for action either as a chemical engine or a water tower or both. The pipe connections have a coupling attached for two and one-halfinch rubber hose, so that the cylinder can be filled from the plug; also, if enough pressure comes from the plug, the water can pass through the cylinder into the three-quarter-inch hose, thus avoiding, in case of necessity, the rechatging of the cylinder. The wagon is mounted on Sarven ** A " patent wheels, with brass hub-caps, steel ties, and ** Concord Express,” solid, collar, steel axles. F’ront and rear are best oil-tempered springs; on the body are brass side rails; and the wheel brake is operated by the driver’s foot. With the usual equipment of ladders, etc , are two playpipe standards on rear step-board; one chemical cylinder under seat (capacity thirty-five gallons); 100 feet three-quarter-inch chemical hose; one wheel for tipping cylinder; and one shut-off nozzle for two-size tips. The weight of the wagon is 2.400 pounds to 2,800. and its capacity 1,000 to 1,200 feet of four-ply hose. The illustration accompanying this article (specially made for FIRE AND WATER), gives a very good idea of this new, most convenient, and most efficient style of combination hose wagon, which will be shown at the ensuing convention of fire chiefs at St. Louis.

Three repeaters have been purchased for engine houses at Milford, Mass., one of which is connected with a fourteeninch gong.
