GRAHAM, Wash. — Important firefighting gear was stolen from a fire engine while firefighters were inside a grocery store on Wednesday.

Graham Fire & Rescue tweeted that firefighters were shopping for dinner at the Graham Safeway when someone rifled through the fire truck’s compartments.

An essential piece of equipment used to rescue trapped firefighters — known as a Rapid Intervention Team Bag — was stolen.

Bystanders who witnessed someone rifling through the compartments went inside the store to alert firefighters.
